Τhe Greek Society for Pediatric Palliative Care is a scientific society founded in 2009 in Athens, Greece (registry # 2336/2009), with the foundamental aim to promote the development of pediatric palliative care for children and adolescents facing life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses and their families, in this country.
A fundamental characteristic of our society is its multidisciplinary structure, which is consistent with the multidisciplinary nature of palliative care. The founding members are Greek experts in the field of medicine (pediatrics, pediatric hematology-oncology, child neurology, intensive care, neonatology, child psychiatry, etc), nursing, psychology, sociology and social work, lawyers as well as parents of children with life-limiting conditions, who have contributed to the development of supportive services for these children, in Greece.
